Youview What is Youview? Founded by BT, Arqiva and TalkTalk. After several postponements Youview was officially launched and made available to the public in 2012. But it was well worth the wait.
Youview essentially is the combination of Freeview live TV through a conventional TV aerial and on internet channels and on demand content supplied via a broadband connection. The strength and
appeal of Youview is the user friendly interface in which catch up TV can be accessed. Through the seven day TV guide, if you miss a programme that you wished to watch. You can scroll backwards up to
7 days and play that programme. Couldn’t be any easier. At the time Youview was a pioneer of this type of service in the UK, which has led the way for similar services such as Freeview Play and
Freetime. Youview is now the adopted platform for BT Vision, TalkTalk TV and the EE TV service and is compatible with Netflix, Now TV, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, Demand 5 and others. How do I
get Youview? There are several different ways of receiving Youview, first things first you need a TV aerial and a broadband connection both connected to your Youview receiver, which could be in the
form of an integrated digital TV or usually a separate Set Top Box. The Set Top Box can come in the form of a PVR which has the added functionality of an in built hard-drive for the recording of live
TV and the ability to pause, stop and re-wind live TV. Some of the ways you can receive Youview: Standalone integrated TV or Set top box, this is completely free for the entirety of use. Subscription
to BT Vision, TalkTalk TV or similar. These companies would usually charge you a fee for the service but come with the option of more TV channels such as BT Sports etc.
